No Sea Needed for Fish Export
A total of 2,500 tonnes of trout were produced and exported from the fish farm at Menzelet Dam in Kahramanmaraş.
Kahramanmaraş Provincial Director of Food Agriculture and Livestock Ihsan Emiralioglu noted: "In 2015, we exported over 2,500 tons of trout. Direct trout exports were made from our province to 15 countries from Europe and the Middle East, especially Russia. This export happens in two ways. The first is exported to related countries in the form of direct fish exports, which are certified health by our directorate. We also have trout exports made by the fish processing facilities in our province. From here, exports are carried out to European and Middle Eastern countries, especially Russia, in the form of frozen fish."
Dams in Kahramanmaraş, which has no shore to the sea, are also noted for producing trout besides energy production.
