91,000 'loss of victory' from quota
UND President Tamer Dinçshahin said that the quota problem, which has not been resolved for years by international shipping companies, has lost serious markets.
The logistics sector is one of the developing sectors of Turkey. According to the World Bank Global Logistics Performance Index (KLPE), Turkey is ranked 39th in 155 countries in logistics. However, its share of the national product is still not at the level it should be. This share is considered 10 percent of GDP. We have around 4 to 5 percent.
There is also the cost of traveling around the countries, extending its path because of the lack of quota of TIR carrying. UND President Tamer Dinçshahin explains:
"For a permanent solution, the road to un quotaed transport must be opened. The quota is all over. Not in Iran. It also exists in CIS countries. We transport to 58 countries. It's on 26. There has been a clear error in the Customs Union agreement. There is no transport-related clause, no sentence pointing. Transport has no U. The great danger! The fleet is increasing, trade is increasing, quota is not increasing. We weren't talking about quotas before 2000, but trade is increasing. Transport vehicles are not an element of competition. They're putting obstacles in the vehicle's entrance, not the property. It's going to grow. The wheel is turning backwards. Our exports were $100 billion, while our losses were $5 billion based on the account we made. If there is no Hungarian document, there is no charge. You will go to the country behind it, but you cannot enter Hungary. Then you have to follow a different route, the road is getting longer, the cost is increasing. It has an absolute effect of 5 percent. This also leads to an increase in the share of carrier companies."
