In the first 8 months, half of Turkey's foreign trade was made from Istanbul. Istanbul also exported $34.6 billion in exports and $60.5 billion in imports during the period in question. Thus, Istanbul's share in exports was 47.4%, and its share in imports was 52.6 percent.
