Requested EX1 Certificate in letters of credit and Issues
Requested ex1 document in credits and problems experienced
The EX1 Document, as you know, is the code number in the Customs Declaration (written in box 1) used for export.
In cases where our country is an exporter, it is also seen that EX1 is within the required documents in the credits from some countries. Sometimes this document appears to be requested as COPY or PHOTOCOPY.
In such a case; It is almost certain that the EX1 document contained in the documents to be submitted to the bank will be a reserve subject because it cannot meet many of the requirements required in the credit. Because;
1) The definition of property will have to look different, not in the way it is written in the letter of credit. This is also a cause of serious reserve (inappropriateness). The example on this is below.

2) Details in the name of the firm and the name of the customer may look different,
3) It will not be technically possible to comply with the requirement "ALL DOCUMENTS MUST SHOW OUR L/C NUMBER" on EX1 that we encounter near almost all of the creditors.
4) It will not be technically possible to comply with the requirement of "ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE ISSUED IN TÜRKÇE LANGUAGE" on EX1 which we encounter near all of the credits from the Middle East countries.
It does not seem possible to present the EX1 document to the bank without a reserve for these reasons and for similar reasons that may occur outside of them.
Here are our suggestions as a solution;
1) To recommend to the customer that the EX1 document be sent out of credit and to ask the customer for correction (amendment) to remove this document from the required documents. Of course, it is not always possible to do so.
2) If it is not possible to remove the EX1 document from the credit, then adding the following requirement to the credit with a correction would be the solution: "EX1 DOCUMENT WILL BE ACCEPTABLE AS PRESENTED". This statement means that EX1 DOCUMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED WITH THE PRESENTATION. Thus, the responsibility of the bank to check the EX1 document will be eliminated and the bank will be prevented from finding an error on the document. Requesting such a fix could be the solution to the EX1 problem.
Also, as additional information, I should also point out that, as it is understood from the questions that come in our seminars, the request for an EX1 document (or any document) as a photocopy in the letter of credit appears to be a mistaken idea that the bank will not examine this document. The photocopying of the requested document does not mean that the bank will accept the document without examining it.
I wish you all a healthy day and encounter the export credits that you will be presenting with unreserved documentation.
